A kitten may mew for another round of milk-softened kibbles, but when they're offering to boost their moods for free, the least a cat lover can do is oblige. 

Giving a cat an infinite source of love and affection is how hoomans pay homage to the little beasts for being so gosh-darn adorable. 

Sighing as if the weight of the world falls on their tiny shoulders, cats act like they have the hardest lives. 

In reality, and as many cat lovers work hard to achieve, cats are actually the little princesses or princes in the household who carry the lightest load. They eat expensive prescription cat food for their IBS, they regularly claw at the furniture at their own pleasure, and they nap for 23 hours out of the day. With no careers to speak of, these adorable freeloaders spend their days instead being the light in our lives, bringing cuteness and pawsitivity into every meowment spent together. 

It's for this reason that we forgive the lazy lump of a feline who refuses to listen when cat owners shoo them off the counter. Cats may be the feistiest, laziest, and most expensive meowmber of the family, but they're still our favorite. 

Sometimes a quick snack run turns into a cat rescue.

It started with a random day off and a quick trip for fries and a soft serve. This rescuer had driven over to spend the day with her boyfriend, and the two of them decided to head out to a nearby fast food place off a busy four-lane highway. As they pulled into the parking lot, something small and gray appeared in the road ahead. They thought it was a squirrel and her boyfriend quickly pulled over and ran to see what it was.

Instead of a squirrel, he found a tiny gray kitten sitting right there in the road near a busy four-lane highway. He scooped her up, jogged back to the car, and gently placed her in the back seat. They both knew right then that she was coming home with them. 

The kitten was only about six months old with a tiny little head and the sweetest meows. Despite everything, she was calm once she was safely in the car. There was no way she was going back anywhere near that road. The snack run had quietly turned into a rescue.

That little gray blur is now known as Wrenchwrench. She's grown into a confident house cat who spends her time doing important cat work, like enthusiastically shredding her scratcher and sitting proudly beside the evidence afterward. For a kitten who started out alone in the middle of a busy road, she seems very happy with how things turned out.

Cats are known for their chaos causing abilities, which for their pawrents is quite the challenge to handle. But when it is other people's cats expelling their mad energy in their own homes, the viewing experience is just delicious.

Sure, we are getting enjoyment at the expense of others' misfortune. But considering that most of us who are enjoying this madness are cat pawrents ourselves who often have to handle such chaotic events within the walls of our own homes, it is ok. And let's face it, there are not many feline related things that are more enjoyable when you look at them happening in someone else's house.

So we implore you to indulge in this delicious collection of chaotic cats so that you can for a few brief moments enjoy the misfortunes of others until your turn to ride the crazy cat carousel in your home comes back around again. Sometimes, we forget that in toxic relationships, the cats go through it too.

Adopting a cat with your partner can sound like such a great idea to untrained ears, but to us, it sounds more like trouble than anything else. We are all for adopting cats, we want to make sure that is clear, but adopting cats together… that is something that, in our opinion, should be reserved for very well-established relationships. Because it is all fun and games until a breakup happens and a custody battle over the cat ensues.

Both partners in the relationship bond with the cats. Sometimes, it's a clear choice who the cat will go to after a breakup, but other times, it is not. Sometimes, people talk about splitting up bonded pairs of cats after breakups. Sometimes, people use cats as a card in a breakup, trying to get the cat from the other person to cause them pain. But no matter what it is, the first victim of the whole situation is, of course, the cat. And that is why we hate it. When the relationship is toxic, the cat suffers too, and it is important to remember that and then to act accordingly.

You know who are. Some crimes are serious, but others lack a certain…criminality. Stealing hearts is one thing, hoarding cat photos, or being hopelessly obsessed with whiskered cuties are all worse that you think! Catnapping is on the rise. He now runs what we like to call the "underground orange market".

If dogs are the paladins of the pet world, then cats are the rogues. They're naturally shady, can sneak into nearly any location, and you never see them coming. They can pick any lock and steal any treasure. Not only can they do it, but they like doing it. There's a reason why there's a term called "cat burglars". We have to imagine that the person who coined that term didn't just name them that because they didn't like cats.

And the best part yet is that cats can be trained to steal, although it's usually done unintentionally. If you've ever owned a feline or two, you've probably expurrienced them leaving "gifts" for you. These gifts can be anything from leaves they hunted to rodents, to random pieces of garbage they found. Cats basically think that we hoomans are giant, dumb cats who don't know how to hunt, so sometimes they bring back presents to share with us so we don't starve.

Well, one neighborhood orange cat started to take this concept to the extreme (as most oranges do). After a friendly fellow fed him a piece of chicken, the cat started leaving him gifts in order to get more chicken. These weren't your average gifts. Apparently, he even brought him a full granola bar and a sponge to trade for some chicken. 

Whether he liked it or not, he's now running a mini "orange" market where he gets people's stolen goods for a morsel of chicken. Will he use his new powers for good or for evil? We guess you'll find out below.

There's no denying it, our cats live secret lives when we're not around. 

It's not that felines are inherently disloyal; it's just that beyond the front door lies the sweet promise of tasty treats, the touch of grass under their toe beans, and the winds of freedom upon their whiskers. Who are we, as cat lovers, to deny a cat the full spectrum of the feline experience? 

Every once in a while, a cat grabs on and refuses to let go.

The moment she was picked up outside a PetSmart, this tiny cat clung tightly, almost like she had already made up her mind that this was her new hooman. It felt familiar too. Two years earlier, the same thing happened when adopting another cat named Kenzie from the same place. That moment of instant connection made the choice feel easy. It seemed like fate had stepped in again.

Now named Calypso, the petite calico has already started settling into her new home. Despite being around two years old, she's surprisingly small, which only adds to her charm. What she might lack in size, she more than makes up for in affection. Calypso loves to snuggle and seems perfectly happy curling up with her new human whenever she gets the chance.

The best surprise so far is how smoothly she's fitting into the household. Kenzie, the resident cat, appears to be getting along with her just fine. That early harmony has made the transition feel even more special. Instead of a stressful introduction, it looks like the two cats might be well on their way to becoming companions.

Some cats can be incredibly clever, but there are those who seem to be lacking more than a few brain cells and when they stay that way for an extended period of time, you end up with the bleps that we have in store for you in this list.

It is a funny phenomenon, that such a smart animal as a cat could ever have such cognitively challenged characters amongst them. But such is the way of the feline world and there are more than a few of these forgetful freddies and dumb dumb deborahs in the world. And while you might have assumed that they have little to contribute to society, after all, they will most certainly not be advancing any feline facets of life.

The truth is that what they lack in smarts they more than make up for in cuteness and comedy. Which is why we made this list of feline funnies of the cats hanging on to reality by the string of a single brain cell.
